History
In the footsteps of prehistory
Hidden away at the foot of an imposing limestone cliff, this site offers a unique window on the life of prehistoric man 15,000 years ago.
Discovered in 1863 by palaeontologist Edouard Lartet and his friend Henry Christy, the site is made up of two shelters: the classic shelter, which has been fully explored, and the Marseilles shelter, partially unexplored due to a collapse of limestone blocks.
Prepare to be amazed by the treasures to be found here. More than 600 ornate, sculpted and engraved works of art were found during the excavations, taking visitors on an unforgettable journey into the depths of our history.
